VITIELLO, JOSEPH FRANCIS, 83, of Louisville, died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. Mr. Vitiello was born in Roxbury, MA on April 10, 1923 to Fred Russo Vitiello and Mary Cadigan. He retired from U.S. Naval Ordnance station in Louisville. A World War II veteran in the European Theare were he was wounded in The Battle of The Bulge, and was listed as missing in action and served with distinction with the 75th Army Infantry Division. Two brothers, Fred and Robert Vitiello preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 62 years , Rose Marie Vitiello of Louisville with whom he married on day before being shipped overseas on November 4, 2007. He is also survived by his son, Eric C. "Ric" Vitiello Sr. and wife Helen Patricia of Louisville; one daughter, Mrs. Michael Rebecca Ann "Becky" Vitiello Singer of Louisville; one brother, John Vitiello of Stoyghton, MA; five grandchildren, Eric C. Vitiello Jr., Helen Brook Vitiello Haverstick, Elizabeth Sommer Singer Glauberman, Andrew Joseph "A.J." Singer and Aaron Michael Singer; six great-grandchildren, Emily Dawn Vitiello, Alex Charles Vitiello, Helen Abigail Haverstick, Jack Edward Haverstick and Asher Fivel Glauberman. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites by Ferdinand Legion Post 124. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 7-9:30 a.m. Monday at Becher Funeral Home.
